KIM BOK-DONG AND THE HISTORY OF THE “COMFORT WOMEN” MOVEMENT
The Museum of “Comfort Women” cordially invites you to the special exhibition highlighting the life and decades-long struggle of Kim Bok-Dong (1926-2019).
The exhibition sheds light on the life and decades-long struggle of Kim Bok-dong, a courageous voice in the struggle to come to terms with the Japanese Military Sexual Slavery system. In 1940, at the age of 14, she was abducted by the Japanese military and forced into a so-called “comfort women” station. But she did not remain silent: since 1992, she has campaigned tirelessly for justice, human rights and an official apology from Japan. Even in her 90s, she remained a determined activist who mobilized solidarity worldwide.
The exhibition not only traces her personal journey, but also sheds light on the history of the so-called “comfort women” and the movement for truth and justice that continues to this day.
📅 Exhibition period: April 6-17, 2025
📍 Location: Museum of the “comfort women” (Quitzowstraße 103, 10551 Berlin)
