{"id":189,"date":"2022-11-20T12:46:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-20T11:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trostfrauen.museum\/en\/?p=189"},"modified":"2023-01-31T15:43:08","modified_gmt":"2023-01-31T14:43:08","slug":"opening-museum-der-trostfrauen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trostfrauen.museum\/en\/opening-museum-der-trostfrauen\/","title":{"rendered":"Re-opening of the \u201cMuseum der Trostfrauen\u201d at the Korea Verband"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On October 19, 2022, after a long period of remodeling, the \u201cMuseum der Trostfrauen\u201d (Museum of Comfort Women) has finally reopened at the Korea Verband. After erecting the Statue of Peace two years ago and fighting to preserve it ever since, the museum has now become another interactive place to learn and remember the so-called &#8220;comfort women&#8221;. This milestone was celebrated with numerous visitors, representatives of our partner organizations, live music and Korean specialties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no comparable institution in Germany that provides information about violence against girls and women from the past as well as the present in this interactive and straight forward way. Portraits of former &#8220;comfort women&#8221; and information about the systematic procedure in the so-called &#8220;comfort stations&#8221; and the geopolitical extent of the crimes enable visitors to deal with the topic using a variety of mediums. Through the museum, several key themes can be told and discussed at the same time. These include imperialism and colonialism, wars and state crimes, historical recognition and remembrance work, women&#8217;s rights in modern society, power and consensus in partnerships and contemporary gender rights and injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum is located in the office of the Korea Verband at Quitzowstra\u00dfe 103, Berlin-Moabit and in the immediate vicinity of the Statue of Peace. The museum can be visited on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We also offer guided tours and visits outside of our opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
